What is the terrain?
The 5K run take place on the property of Autumn Lake Winery and will take you through trails of hard packed dirt, some grass, sand, and loose dirt, around two lakes and through the vineyard. This is a rain or shine event. If there is rain prior to or on race day the course may include muddy areas so plan accordingly.
Basic Rules:
Each athlete or relay team will start the 5K at the top of every hour. If they finish the 5K in less than an hour they will rest/wait until the next hour to run again. Runners must be in the start corral by the next 5K start time. If you miss the start, you’re out of the race. This could be due to not completing the previous 5K within the hour, spending too much time in your home base, just not able to make it to the start line, etc. You must start with the group to stay in the race.
Relay Teams:
Relay teams will consist of 2 athletes. The same basic rules described above apply to relay teams. Relay teams will have one bib number that will be worn by the person running. For the 24 hour race each relay team member must run a minimum of nine 5Ks for the team to remain in the race. For the 12 hour and 6 hour races the teammates can decide how many each team member will run but each team member must run at least two 5Ks for the team to remain in the race.
Scoring System:
A point system, as described below, will be used for scoring.
Placing points for each 5K:
6 points for placing 1st male, female, and relay team
5 points for placing 2nd male, female, and relay team
4 points for placing 3rd male, female, and relay team
3 points for placing 4th male, female, and relay team
2 points for placing 5th male, female, and relay team
1 point for finishing the 5K
There will be some double point 5Ks in the overnight hours to be announced prior to the start of that specific 5K. In the event of a tie, the athlete (male, female, and relay team) that finished ahead in the last 5K will be the winner.
Other Information:
This will be a cup free race so please be prepared with your own bottle or cup for drinks. No refunds or deferrals will be permitted. There is a large grass field you pass on each loop where all athletes will be able to place pop up tents, chairs, home bases, crewing, nutrition/hydration needs and where spectators can hangout. The area goes right up to the fence that lines the course but spots are on first come first serve basis. You MUST CROSS START/FINISH LINE BEFORE YOU CAN HEAD TO YOUR SPOTS. We will have an aid station close to the start/finish area with basic ultra race nutrition and hydration including: Water, sodas, broth, snacks, fruit, candy, etc.
